A one-day training workshop for journalists from Attock district on reporting income tax returns was held at a local hotel here on Friday.


The workshop, organised by The Network for Consumer Protection (TheNetwork) with the collaboration of the USAID, was attended by journalists from print and electronic media.

Project Advocacy Officer Tariq Sattar, while talking about TheNetwork’s “Taxation for Development” project, said the implementation of initiative will be a milestone for sustainable economic growth in the country.

The project not only advocates responsible consumerism but also identifies challenges face by taxpayers while submitting online income tax returns.

Senior journalist and former PTV general manager Muhammad Sarwar Munir Rao conducted the training and talked about journalists’ role in motivating the general public to pay taxes file their returns.

TheNetwork Mobilisation Officer Hamza Nasir gave a presentation on income tax returns on the FBR’s web portal and also talked about FBR rebates.

Attock Press Club Chairman Nadeem Raza Khan and journalist Muhammad Sabrin appreciated the efforts of TheNetwork to motivate the masses to pay their taxes. They said that the training would help local journalists in correct reporting on income tax- related issues.
