Investment: Japanese envoy calls on BOI chief

The government is focusing on infrastructure development to promote industries in Pakistan, says BOI chief.

ISLAMABAD: Charge d’affairs for the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan Akira Kono, called on Chairman, Board of Investment Mohammad Zubair and discussed issues relating to Japanese investment in Pakistan. Kono highlighted that Japan and Pakistan have good relations to promote Investment and trade and Japan has many companies successfully operating in Pakistan. However, he expressed concern on security issues and problems being faced by existing Japanese investors and new potential investors. Zubair informed Kono about the new government’s policy initiatives, especially its focus on overcoming the energy crisis, security issues and attraction of foreign direct investment promotion to put Pakistan on a fast track to attain sustainable economic growth. Zubair said the Board of Investment will fully support existing Japanese investors as well as potential investors for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The government, he said is focusing on infrastructure development to promote industries in Pakistan.
