The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate for the NA-48 by-election Anjum Aqeel Khan has officially withdrawn his nomination papers.
Khan appeared before the returning officer on Thursday and withdrew his nomination papers, citing that the PML-N had not awarded him a ticket and he respected the party’s decision.
On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan had allowed Khan to contest the NA-48 by-elections after a petition seeking the restoration of his nomination papers was accepted.
Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked Khan to withdraw his papers in light of the controversy surrounding the party’s ticket, which had already been awarded to Advocate Ashraf Gujjar.
The three major-party candidates contesting the by-elections are Gujjar, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Asad Umar and Pakistan People’s Party’s Faisal Sakhi Butt.
The seat was vacated by PTI’s Javed Hashmi after retaining his home constituency seat.

The two members of election commission who allowed allowed him to contest after withdrawing his papers the first time should be ashamed of their actions, issue a public apology, and then resign from their positions for bringing disrespect to their institution by their actions.
He wasn't winning anyway....
This joke of contesting elections from multiple seats should stop. All politicians should only be allowed to contest from one seat i.e. their home town constitutency. Its a big expense to the tax payer to have to pay for bye-elections for vacated seats. Why must these so-called leaders have insurance against losing their home constituency ? Its obvious that people have rejected you, so please accept the decision. The fact that they still try to come in through a "back" door i.e. their secondary or tertiary seats, is an affront to democracy and a slap in the face of people who rejected them.
