
Director General National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned the villages near the the River Chenab of possible flooding and asked them to vacate, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.
In his statement in Lahore, DG NDMA said that directives have been issued to the respective administrations to shift the people of Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Chiniot, Jhang and Sumandari to move to a safe place.
Flood is expected in the river Chenab Wednesday night and the warning has also been extended to people living close to the motorway.
Flood warning cell, Peshawar
An official of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that according to the flood warning cell in Peshawar, flood measuring up to 84928 cusecs has been generated in the River Swat, following torrential rain in Malakand Division.
The concerned district administrations have been warned of possible flooding in Nowshera, Charsadda road and villages near M-1 Motorway.
