Football: National U14 team wins campaign opener

Pakistan will now take on Korea tomorrow in their second match and face Vietnam on August 17.

The Pakistan U14 team opened their campaign at the Asian Youth Games in style as they defeated Chinese Taipei 3-1 in Nanjing, China yesterday.


Muhammad Junaid scored the opening goal in the 12th minute of the match; however, Chinese Taipei equalised six minutes later. Pakistan dominated the match with Junaid’s second goal in the 28th minute, while Shahid Khan sealed victory with a third goal in the 35th minute.

“The win has boasted our team’s moral” said coach Hassan Baloch.

Pakistan will now take on Korea tomorrow in their second match and face Vietnam on August 17.
