Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a passenger vehicle on the outskirts of the city late Monday night.

Fortunately, the passengers onboard escaped unhurt in the ambush which took place in Danyor area, about 20 kilometres from Gilgit. “No one was injured in the attack,” confirmed Danyor police official Iqbal.

Seven people were in the vehicle which was heading towards Sultanabad from Gilgit. The bullets reportedly pierced through the vehicle, but passengers remained safe. The police said a case has been registered but no arrests have yet been made.

In another incident, a tree fell on a house on airport road following a windstorm on Monday. The dwellers were unharmed but residents of the area blocked the road in protest and demanded proper maintenance of trees on both sides of the road.

The windstorm uprooted several trees and knocked down billboards in the town, but no casualties were reported.
