KARACHI: Pakistan team’s training camp for the upcoming Asia Cup resumed in full swing at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore after Eid holidays.

The greenshirts underwent training in three sessions yesterday with all the players present, according to coach Tahir Zaman.

“The camp will continue at the same pace,” the coach told The Express Tribune, before adding that the final squad was expected to be announced in a couple of days.

“We will most probably announce the squad on August 15.”

Seasoned goal-keeper Salman Akbar, who was recalled for the training camp, is likely to make the cut along with other senior players including Waseem Ahmed and Shakeel Abbasi.

The national team desperately needs to win the Asia Cup to qualify for next year’s World Cup — failure to do so will keep them away for the global tournament in the Netherlands.
