Security arrangements will be made accordingly to manage the influx of passengers.
The first Metro Bus service began on February 10 and was free of charge for passengers initially.
Fares were introduced on February 14 due to the difficulty of managing long queues and overcrowding.

@Peanutheads:
Dare I say bro that your comment has surely done justice with your screen name....keep it up :D
@Adnan Siddiqui ...... And what makes you think that the so called "haters" are not from Lahore, unless you are gifted with an extraordinary cyber sense of small? Don't you think an internet intellectual is better than an internet idiot?
thats cool, seems its only lhr based
It is a good decision and will be highly appreciated "" IF "" Sharif Brothers will bare all the expenses from their personal accounts.
Once in a while and on special occasions, this type of free ride is provided in many countries. Punjabis are lucky that their government has something to offer.
Most of the haters are not even from Lahore nor they would ever sit in a Metro Bus but they take it upon themselves to portray themselves as internet intellectuals.
Dear CM,
Seriously tell us , this kind of " FREE RIDE " drama is not going to make any Good to your battered Image due to your " inhumane " Policies , you seriously need to decrease the rate of inflation also eradicate Load-shedding as you promised , provide Free-Education and Free state-of-the art health facilities , Heavy Monsoon is damaging the Agriculture of Pakistan which is the ONLY source of Income for the Government , instead of such facilities , you are giving out "FREE-RIDE " which is also Going to put an extra burden on the tax-payers which is really a pathetic idea.
@sa: "good idea to feel different day from other days of a year" But who will pay for FUEL for that MAAILAt? Why not make couple of schools or provide drinking water to kids? Unless if THEKEDAARS will start selling water to Truck Mafia.
@Candid Canadian: "In Canada all public transport is free on Canada Day." Ok Janab, should I start feeling proud that Pakistanis have achieved Canadian STANDARD?. Juphiaan Paa Ji.
@Candid Canadian: You could have enlightened the readers about the high cost of travelling in Canada and generally the discipline and the respect of the public property to bring this free ride in perspective!!
Who is paying for this largesse? When would we stop acting like Moghul kings and be fiscally responsible?? Where is that 'suo moto' when one needs one??
CM Punjab is very fond of publicity, a shameful way. Who will pay the damage cost to the buses, of course public exchequer. Very silly. He should have announced the income on 14 August will go to the Education Fund.
Yay! Lets destroy buses!
In UAE the matro is free on few occasions like national day, but I guess in Pakistan this is not a good idea, as people will be traveling purposelessly :), causing issues for others.
Jhoolay lo, enjoy kero :). Happy independence day.
So our tax money is going to public entertainment now? This will scare away a lot of legitimate passengers, especially women.
good idea to feel different day from other days of a year,
Another publicity stunt !
It would've been much more useful if this money had been spent on education or health instead of wasting it on ayashi on National day. Since more ppl will flood the buses, this will also damage the buses
But why?
One "brilliant" stroke after another, a great way to drive the public to mayhem! When will squeezing cheap publicity and political mileage out of the tiring poor Metro system cease? Even my neighbor's 10 year old kid thought this idea to be idiotic in the extreme.
That's a ridiculous idea. Free ride means, people sitting until the end of the journey, more people loading on the bus and damaging the vehicle. Dear CM its not a kiddie ride, its a public transport
