The LWMC “remained alert for all three days” in order to keep the city clean, said the press release. It made special arrangements beginning on chaand raat, as mosques and grounds were cleaned in preparation for Eid prayers.
On Eid, cleanliness was ensured in and around graveyards as many visit the resting places of their loved ones on the day. The city’s major roads, streets, underpasses and bridges were mechanically swept and washed.
LWMC Managing Director Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry inspected arrangements across the city on Eid day and suspended three senior officials for not doing their jobs properly.
The LWMC also arranged various awareness activities at Anarkali, Moon Market, Barkat Market, Liberty Market, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park, Mini Golf Park, Jallo Park, Shalamar Gardens, Race Course Park, Lawrence Gardens, Minar-i-Pakistan, Waddi Park China Scheme, Ideal Park Township and Shadbagh Park.
The LWMC recorded 98 per cent staff attendance during the Eid holidays. “These operations are an informal rehearsal for Eidul Azha operations which are being planned and remain the biggest test for the company every year,” said the press release.
