Monsoon rains: Youth drowns in Dek flood

SIALKOT: A youth drowned in the flooded Dek river near Chahoor in tehsil Pasrur on Sunday.

Muhammad Nadeem was walking through the stream when he slipped and was carried away by a current. Rescue 1122 officials are still looking for the body. As many as 47 villages in Pasrur, Zafarwal, Qila Ahmedabad and surrounding areas remained inundated on Sunday. According to Irrigation Department officials, this was the fourteenth spate in the flooded Dek this season.

They said that four to five feet flood water was still standing in Jabboke, Chak Machchaana, Nawaadhey, Eispur, Seehowal, Jeesatiwala, Qila Ahmedabad, Sojowali, Kukka Pan, Baangey, Rasheedpur, Ghangor, Khewan Cheema, Saarh Fataah, Behlolpur, Cheema, Peera, Baryar, Balloki, Main Harpal, Punj Grayeen Bajwa, Narang Wali, Dhung, Kheemowali, Baddo Cheema and Khewa Hundalaan villages.
