great job police, shoot all that do not stop!!
Commentators are confusing this with other totally different incidents of Rangers' aggression.
Sarfraz Shah was an alleged thief, dis-armed of his toy gun, in custody, should've been hand-cuffed, and been easily beaten if he resisted, but ended up executed instead - no doubt malicious murder and extra-judicial killing.
Mureed Abbas was reversing his taxi, no warning shots, the tires could easily been taken out, but shot dead and could have killed his child too - some doubt for the offending officer, due to heightened alert of a previous attack on them earlier, he bypassed protocols, hastily and fearfully decided and assumed the worst without confirmation, and committed a tragic killing with poor/dangerous execution, and should be questioned, tried and held accountable for at least recklessness or manslaughter or negligent homicide.
There are limits which should not be broken by excessive police or security force and abuse. They must be questioned by the public and other authorities for accountability, and improved training should be ongoing. It is a difficult and stressful job, but there are clear lines, though the extraordinary situation and threat of terrorism will mean more heightened vigilance, but at the same time a lot of questionable decisions and often heavy-handedness, which should be avoided as they possibly can. Easier said than done.
It seems clear cut. I see no wrong doing on the police's part in the story, since they retaliated after being fired on by an armed individual, a possible militant, who was attempting to flee from the car they asked to stop at a check point. The story should be investigated and verified by authorities, since the dead can't speak for himself, just in case there is wrong-doing and therefore condemned, otherwise a good job, and hence should be applauded and supported.
What has happened to everyone? The security forces must be answerable for every bullet fired. This is what happens in civilized states, they do not fire at every person who tries to run away or doesn't stop at a check post. That's why they have so many police car chases. They're trained to fire only in reaction. Every person killed by police fire is thoroughly investigated to make sure that it was absolutely necessary. This is a person's life we are talking about here, you must be absolutely sure before you pull the trigger. If you start firing at every person who doesn't stop at a checkpost or tries to run away then Allah help us all. This is not how countries are run, only prison's are run this way.
With policemen being killed daily by terrorists, they need to be more vigilant. If he was innocent, why he was trying to run away?
When we kill terrorist it might increase their number ! Killing own people is not the solution of peace .we should adopt alternative way to halt militancy industry. In fact indian agencies are involve in this current situation pakistan should engage indian in kashmir and at LOC .
another innocent killed by police when they could not found any terririst.
can any body believe this theory of police. it is same as airport firing storey woven by police. Allah rakha...
@Shahzad: Police can only kill in reactionary. Even in that case they have to answer. This is a country not a jungle. So yes, you are wrong here.
Why weren't we already doing this? shoot to kill the terrorists before he can trigger! Good job !
Rayan: Agreed. I have always remained advocate of the fact that whatever Rangers guys did in Khi was justified. We are emotional fools. People say that Sarfraz Shah had a fake gun, Oh bahi what was he doing with fake gun? Throwing water at people and trying to amuse them? I mean for God's good sake, don't blame everything on poor soldiers. Again what ever happend in Gulastan e Jauhar, the media went bonkers over it. Yaar ap ko ruknay ka ishara kartay hai, bahi ruk jao, kea masla hai. Bagtay hain, phir goli khatay hain aur hamari qoum ka matam shuroo ho jata hai. Agaar isi jaga 20 fauji/rangers/police mar jain tau aik banda bhi protest nahi karay ga. Am I wrong here?
now chief justice of pakistan will take tsu motu action for killing a 20 years boy by the police as he did when a rangers person in karachi killed a suspected taxi driver. As a result of action of chief justice security forces can not pre empt suicide attacks becoz they have to search for proof before firing on any suspect and lose the valuable time before he detonates and makes dozens of women widows and dozens of children orphans
Good job but we have a looooong way to go.
Is suspected terrorist death=collateral damage (civilian death) by drone?
Welldone KPK police. Simple rule, police ask you to stop, stop or get killed. I wish every police checkpoint was this efficient.
