Musharraf was scheduled to appear before a court on Tuesday to face charges he was tied to the 2007 assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
Amnesty said the former military general faces a number of other charges for human rights abuses committed during his 10-year rule over Pakistan.
UPI cited Polly Truscott, AI’s deputy Asia-Pacific director, as saying in a statement “hundreds, if not thousands” of people inexplicably disappeared during Musharraf’s tenure. He is also accused of silencing independent media and his judicial critics.
“It is encouraging to see the courts take the unprecedented step of bringing a former army chief to account for his alleged involvement in past human rights violations and crimes under international law,” she said. “But Musharraf must be held accountable for all violations committed under his rule, not just a select few.”

The message I posted earlier has answers to everything that clarify that Musharraf did not abuse any Human Rights. But I suppose this panel is biased and thus did not post my informative message.
In short stop this fabricated propaganda against a true patriot like Pervez Musharraf.
Amnesty International,go take a hike.
@ Talat Ali
Your naivete is truly astonishing. Do you seriously believe the entire armed forces and the PM werent aware that the Kargil operation was underway? Your PM buckled under US pressure after Musharraf's strategy worked in military terms, and pleaded his innocence (read incompetence) in not knowing about it. Give me a break.
@Talat Ali: Let me make a confession. As an Indian, I find it amusing to see Pakistanis speaking against Musharraf and Pakistan Army. Keep posting such stuff.
Amnesty International: we don't need your opinion on this. So please stay away from commenting on matters you dont know about. Silencing independent media? He created the independent media; there was no media save for PTV before him.
The general should actually be tried for putting the entire nation in danger for his private action in Kargil. No one knew of the operation till the Indian press took it up. The Indians gave up an opportunity to destroy Pakistan armed forces by catching them off guard as the Airforce and the Navy were not prepared as they did not know of the military operation nor did GHQ either. This was a Musharf's baby all together. He could have taken the country to a war when we were actually making advances of friendship towards India and had invited the then PM of India to Pakistan and there Musharaf refused to salute the Indian PM which was most unethical to say the least. A military inquiry should be held and the responsible should be brought to book. We don't want adventurist generals who can destroy a nation because of their personal whims and use the force as their private army. This is high treason.
Amnesty International has some Pakistanis working for it,who are anti Musharraf, was shown on tv.
amnesty international should mind there own business as pakistan has already enough problems..remember before pointing fingers make sure your own hands are clean .
ET censored my comment quoting the rest of Amnesty's statement which said that same things have been and are occurring today.
You need to understand the ground reality. Pakistan is in a state of war with terrorists!
Transparency International: Stop interfering in matters related to Asian countries and specially to Pakistan... You don't about Europe, UK, Australia... because they slap at your face or are being fed by them.
Musharraf is internal matter of Pakistan and the cases are in courts.. you are trying to influence the cases which itself is violation of human rights.
