As many as eight development projects have been planned to turn the ancestral village of Arfa Karim into a model village, District Coordination Officer Najam Ahmad Shah said on Saturday.
He was speaking at a meeting to review the projects.
The DCO was told that a monument would be built at Arfa Karim’s grave to pay tribute to her services in the information technology sector. In addition to the monument, a girl’s degree college, up-grade of girls’ schools and basic health units and construction of roads are planned.
The DCO asked the officers concerned to complete the projects in time.
Arfa Karim’s father, Col (r) Amjad Karim, who was present on the occasion, said, “Arfa’s belongings have been donated to the Lyallpur Museum…a corner in the museum has been dedicated to her.”
City Police Officer Abdul Razaq Cheema also attended the meeting.

Trolls better tell kaptaan to wake up and get serious about security situation in KP. Arrest the DI Khan escapees and then rant about those who are truly serving the people and honoring the real heroes of the nation.
@ A Pakistani How does it come under town planning? People involved in town planning had better make severage system of Rawalpindi and Lahore better...That comes under town planning..Know it's a science doesn't make you an expert of it or even familiar with it....Did you see how Lahore looked like in rainy season?
@ Umer planning is certainly not a political gimmick that PTI trolls could play around on the Internet. Planning is a science and various universities offer MSc degree in Town Planning. Town Planning envisages that you first develop a model town or village and then it serves as the role model for other towns or villages in the region.
Well we should remember the Old heroes of this region along with New Ones. A famous village of One Rebel Peasant Fighter Dulla Bhatti is also situated in Central Punjab and its name is Dullewalla and apart from Honoring people like Arfa Karim villages like DulleWalla,Bhakkar should be transformed into Model Villages to educate our masses about the hereos of this region.
Drama. Playing on people's sentiments for quick point scoring. Why not work on all villages instead?
There is Arfa Karim IT Park in Lahore as well. The PMLN government is truly honouring the heroes of Pakistan.
