As many as eight development projects have been planned to turn the ancestral village of Arfa Karim into a model village, District Coordination Officer Najam Ahmad Shah said on Saturday.


He was speaking at a meeting to review the projects.

The DCO was told that a monument would be built at Arfa Karim’s grave to pay tribute to her services in the information technology sector. In addition to the monument, a girl’s degree college, up-grade of girls’ schools and basic health units and construction of roads are planned.

The DCO asked the officers concerned to complete the projects in time.

Arfa Karim’s father, Col (r) Amjad Karim, who was present on the occasion, said, “Arfa’s belongings have been donated to the Lyallpur Museum…a corner in the museum has been dedicated to her.”

City Police Officer Abdul Razaq Cheema also attended the meeting.
