Sindh Minister for Local Bodies and Health Syed Owais Muzaffar visited Sindh High Court judge, Justice Maqbool Baqar at a local hospital and convinced him to go abroad for treatment on government expenses.
Justice Baqar was injured in a terrorist attack in Karachi that left nine dead and many wounded. Muzaffar, who was accompanied by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that Justice Baqar will get a bulletproof car on his return from abroad after treatment.
Muzaffar said PPP respects the judiciary and will ensure its protection at every cost.
Earlier, he took a survey of various localities of the city including Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The local bodies minister directed the administrator of Karachi Municipal Corporation to improve the sanitary conditions.
Meanwhile, in Jaccobadad Muzzaffar chaired a meeting of public representatives and health department officials. He announced providing six ambulances each for the Kundh Kot, Kashmore and Jacobabad.
He went around basic health units and expressed dismay over lack of facilities and directed the health officials to ensure availability of medicines and equipment.
Muzaffar warned the officials that he can land anywhere from Karachi to Kashmore for a surprise check. Laying emphasis on health and sanitation he said negligent officials will face strict action.

@nou: Very well said. I am shocked and dismayed to see that the Pakistani youth which was recently clamoring for a "Naya Pakistan" do not raise their voices and concerns when they read news reports such as these. While we all sympathize and support Justice Baqar in his recent tragic events, we also know that the common man is dying on the streets of Karachi when his body is riddled with bullets and left there for dead. Even animals are treated better in civilized countries. In a country like this, for the Sindh Health Minister to "convince" Justice Baqar to go abroad for treatment is a travesty.
A message for the youth: If you want to see a "Naya Pakistan" do not wait for a Messiah to make it happen; keep yourself aware of the news, and be on your toes to watch that public affairs are conducted transparently and above board.
These judges already receive outragiously lavish retirement perks...bordering on a rip off. Surely he can afford or even take loan from his retirement funds to savour a foreign treatment. Unless offcourse , if you do the unislamic thing and treat this is a separate law for one and other for the common man. Thousands of people have been injured , maimed and killed----they didn't even get treatment at Aga Khan University , let alone now enjoy a foreign sojourn of millions.
Besides , AKUH already has foreign qualified ( and trained ) doctors---so he would not be any better on foreign soil.
