Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday issued a contempt of court notice to PTI chairman Imran Khan for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the top court and its judges.
Taking notice of Imran’s comments at recent news conferences, Justice Chaudhry directed the PTI chief to appear before the court on Friday (August 2) and explain his views pertaining to the judiciary.
“Prima facie it seems that Imran Khan has started a deliberate campaign to scandalise the court and bring the judges into hatred, ridicule or contempt,” Justice Chaudhry noted in his written order.
A notice was also issued to Attorney General Munir A Malik.
Imran Khan has been criticizing the court for moving the presidential election schedule from August 6 to July 30, aside from blaming the pillar of the state and the Election Commission of Pakistan for failing to hold free and fair elections on May 11. In recent interviews and press conferences he has lambasted the Supreme Court for not taking notice of what he terms the 'most rigged' elections in Pakistan's history.

NRO granted amnesty to politicians, political workers and bureaucrats who were accused of corruption, embezzlement, money laundering, murder, and terrorism between 1 January 1986, and 12 October 1999. Are we out of that time because its still same for all. Acts of CJP are going to make Pervaiz Musharraf hero and Musharraf will again win the favor of public. TUQ and IK are already timed device for political change. It seems a new vacuum could be created due to biased judiciary. Heavy Mandate of NS and Others Mandate including IK and PPP makes 55% of turnout. It means 45% can still make their hidden contribution into that vacuum.
Chaudry sahab please note that after every rise there is a fall.. You are the supreme justice authority, please act like one! Not taking pseudo motto action against the rigging complains, not forcing NADRA and election commision to run the finger print analysis in the reportedly rigged constituencies is a crime on your part chief sahab. It has led people to believe that you are not a neutral authority and your biasness towards Noon has been badly exposed!!

Imran, you would do a favour to yourself by getting rid of lota advisors around you. This is the time to focus on KPK, not to confront SC. I sincerely hope that sanity will prevail.
SC would not dare give any punishment to Imran, they know it will be the end game for them if they do. IK will also be caucious. Everything will turn out fine with happy ending.

Frankly, I agree many short-comings can be easily identified in the higher judiciary, but given the circumstances in Pakistan, we need to understand that the SC is indeed doing a remarkable job. It's seriously bad conduct on the part of politicians to drag judiciary resolve political disputes, and still worst on others, who do get involved in such gimmicks. Lastly, the parties, including IK's, will do this nation a service by avoiding to run a malicious campaign against the SC. SC is ours, and we need to respect it and amend it, no matter what.
Mr Chief Justice: you deserve to be treated with contempt by not only one politician but by the entire people of Pakistan!

Don't appear in person. It is easier to defend a sentence before you serve it. What if you get it till the rising of the court, like Gilani. You won't have much option there. And don't do any muk muka.
I just hope PTI doesn't attack SC like PMLN did in 1997 when the honorable judges had to hide in their chambers to save their lifes. There must be some difference between the two

Imran Khan endorsed the selection of Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim. Imran Khan appreciated judiciary for giving historic judgements on NRO,NICL,EOBI and many other scams. Imran saluted judiciary for standing up for rule of law. Imran saluted judiciary for deleting fake 3 million voters. Imran saluted judiciary for disqualifying fake degree holders. Imran saluted judiciary for pursuing Zardari s Swiss corruption cases. But now judiciary is bad. Why? Because he has not been given majority by the people of Pakistan?

I strongly believe that Imran Khan shall not indulge in controversy with the apex court. He will give deserving honour to the Supreme Court and settle the contempt issue amicably. Imran Khan is still young and some time Josh-e-Khitabat detracks the sensible leaders to imbalance words. Judiciary must be respected. There is lot of improvement. Their hard efforts and honest decisions are on record and whole the nation by and large acknowledge the integrity of Supreme Court. The PTI Chairman must keep in mind that blaming and accusing the Judiciary shall support and promote corruption and crime in this society.

What happens when an Honorable Justice passes a judgement in favor of his associate's family without any merit which is a simple Prima facie evidence of judicial corruption to the extent that a secondary school kid could easily identify the injustice delivered? I guess its a 'Wise Decision' & not a contempt of court :(
