Scarcity: Many areas go without water

MUZAFFARABAD: Residents of Gojra, Shoukat Line and Tariqabad and other areas have been facing an acute drinking water scarcity since the weekend. The residents alleged that the water supply department of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has not been forthcoming to resolve the lingering issue despite repeated complaints. During a visit to the water scarcity-hit areas, residents told The Express Tribune that the water issue has further exacerbated their difficulties amid the soaring temperatures in Ramadan. They said that the officials have turned a deaf ear to their misery. The residents said it was difficult for them to fetch water in hot and humid weather from Neelum River, which has also become murky due to flooding and pollution.
