Express News obtained a copy of a letter written by The National Crisis Management Cell, which was addressed to the Prime Minister, Interior Minister, IG FC Police and IG Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and informed them of the attack. However, the authorities did not take adequate security measures.
The attack on the Central Prison saw 248 prisoners flee. At least nine people were killed including policemen. Six attackers were also reportedly killed.
Taliban claim meticulous planning
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who claimed responsibility for carrying out the major attack, claimed on Tuesday that they had spent over a month planning the assault and spent Rs10 million.
TTP spokesperson Adnan Rasheed in a message claimed that the operation was dubbed "Marg-e-Nijaat".
They claimed freeing many of their commanders and that they had been transferred to a safe spot.
The plan was to stay inside the jail for 20 minutes and flee to a tribal region within an hour.
Rasheed further claimed to have used technologically advanced weaponry during the attack.

There seems to exist an understanding between PTI and TTP in KP . PML-N was kwnowing this fact and thats why PTI was allowed to form the govt. there . The incident was allowed to happen deliberately at different level both at state and central level due to their known interest . The problem of terrorism in Pakistan will further aggrevate and the streategic assets will be used to realize the national goal to capture Afghanistan and Kashmir ..........

However, the authorities did not take adequate security measures. i don,t thing that above lines are true. if govt was aware of the attack then they may deploy army there. people are saying that kpk police have less resources i thing we cannot give them every thing what they want, they should perform in this less resources. every body knows about economy of pakistan
Sorry to say but Pakistani government new or old are same and corrupt. Till people come out on streets of Pakistan and make their government listen n fulfill their basic needs security, electricity, job creation, education and other basic human rights, nothing will help your country to progress.
Your government is their to listen n serve you, not big brother
ask the authorities why didn't they take adequate measures?? who would answer first? the PM or the interior minister as they must have been the first to receive the letter? i suppose if this was going to happen in punjab then the PM would have tightened his belt (or the cord of his shalwar) and taken some action.

Those who were informed but failed to react must be punished. These shameless faces should have resigned themselves but they don't have courage to do so. Now they must be fired.
Yes KP police lacks proper training. yes it seems elite force and other units opted to leave their posts rather than fight. Yes it seems army did not respond but yes KP government cannot be absolved of responsibility. I am a PTI supporter and continue to remain one but these questions need to be answered by them and now. A full and transparent inquiry is needed to ensure that culprits are identified and punished. those who failed their duties are replaced and trust of public in government and law enforcement agencies is restored.
On a separate note the fact that police is ill trained and ill equipped lies squarely on the previous government. I just hope the new one has taken measures to tackle these issues including provision of modern equipment and training. Let DI Khan be a test case. One that will never ever be permitted to be repeated. It can also be sued to bulldoze reforms that police departments are so far resisting. Also questions must be asked as to how a convoy snuck across the FATA border which is supposedly secured. For that federal authorities too are culpable.
As per PTI fan boys: this will still negligence of nawaz and shahbaz sharif...... ;-)
Was this letter written before or forged after the attacks?
KPP is ruled by PTI and Jamat-e-Islami (PAKISTAN TALEBAN ITHEEHAAD)...
Now PTI bashers will start attacking CM KPK without even reading that he was kept out of the entire chain.
The letter should have been addressed to him as well.
The KPK Police lacks the training, weapons and equipment to counter such attacks. This bitter fact was time and again brought to the notice of previous provincial government after the Bannu Jail attack last year.
where are the ISI/agencies haters now ??? & Mr. CM u better do ur job instead of blaming on others...
