The government’s decision to raise petroleum prices from August 1 was strongly condemned by the Karachi Transport Action Committee President Mohammad Asharaf Banglori, Chaudhry Mazhar Hussain, Tanzeen Khan and Nazir Banglori.
They urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to reject the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s summary and to revert the decision to raise prices of petroleum products. The petroleum prices in international markets have been stabilised whereas in Pakistan the prices are being raised without any justification, they alleged.
They lamented that while governments all over the world try to provide relief to their people on holy occasions, in Pakistan the profiteers and hoarders are allowed to mint illegal money.
They requested the government to come forward with a positive approach and withdraw their decision to raise petroleum prices.
