LAHORE: Four men posing as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials robbed two Chinese citizens of 5,000 US dollars and 5,000 Malaysian ringgits near the Secretariat building on Sunday. Police said that the Chinese citizens were staying at a hotel on Davis Road whilst here on business. They were travelling in a rented car with a Pakistani friend when they were approached by the men posing as federal investigators. On the pretext of checking their passports and visas, they nicked the foreigners’ cash from their handbags. The police arrested the driver of the rented car, Khalid, whom the complainant, Amir, accused of complicity. Amir stated that the driver had taken a longer route than usual. He had parked the car by the roadside on the pretext of answering a phone call when the impersonators suddenly arrived.
