Yet another person has been recovered from the clutches of intelligence agencies following the Supreme Court’s intervention – the fourth such recovery this week.
According to a report issued by the apex court’s Human Rights Cell, Noor Hassan, who allegedly went missing from Lahore’s Cantt Railway Station, returned home after Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took notice of an application filed by his brother and Karachi resident Muhammad Yousaf.
In his application, Yousaf stated that armed persons claiming to be government officials accused his brother Noor Hassan and two others of being terrorists, and subsequently arrested them from Cantt Station. He said that his brother had spent 40 days preaching Islam in Lahore and was due to return to Karachi the day he went missing. Maintaining his brother’s innocence, the applicant appealed for Hassan’s release.
Taking cognisance of the application, the chief justice sought a report from the defence and interior ministries, and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (CIED) on the matter. Complying with the directions, the director (legal) of the defence ministry informed the court that the Inter Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence had been asked to provide the requisite information. The ministry, however, sought eight weeks for submitting a report on the matter.
After receiving the defence ministry’s reply, Justice Chaudhry gave the defence secretary two weeks to provide the information sought.
In the meantime, the CIED registrar also submitted a report stating that Mohammad Yousaf had confirmed that his brother had returned home.

People go for tabligh for self learning also, and muslims today forgotten there religion therefore needs to be preached
@Freakonomist: " why there is a need for people to preach Islam to Muslims and for that traveling from Karachi to Lahore? to "INVITE Lahori KUFFARS to accept Islam" hope they brought few tons of KHAJOORAAN.
@Freakonomist: Yes, there is no need to preach Islam to Muslims. But can you tell me how many Muslims performs their prayers regularly? A person cannot be a complete Muslim without performing his prayers. Now please don't say it is personal. You cant perform Namaz alone without any valid reason. It has to be performed in Masjid. So who will guide them? It is the duty of every Muslim to guide other Muslim. It is not the duty of Ulema only to guide but of every Muslim. So this guy was just doing that and for this purpose he traveled to Lahore. Hope this helps you a bit in clearing things
@paki: If out agencies act unlawfully like that what makes them any different from any rebel/insurgent/terrorist group?
@Freakonomist: I think that's the tribune correspondent's translation of a 'chilla' with the Tablighi Jamat or Dawat-e-Islami or whatever
How come it has been deduced that he was in captivity of Intelligence setup. This man could be in hiding for personal reasons and has come back after settling the dispute
our intelligence agencies do the right thing by kidnapping people who they think is a terrorist.and besides they don't even ask for ransom so they are not stupid to pick up people.Try to understand people our agencies are only trying to help Pakistan. Keep up the good work Intelligence agencies because you are r last hope.
Indeed it is against human rights what our intelligence agencies are doing but I was wondering why there is a need for people to preach Islam to Muslims? and for that traveling all the way from Karachi to Lahore?
Bravo! CJP, it is perhaps a big day in the independence of judiciary. Thanks for the timely judicial process for bringing the loved one back to their family.I don't understand why is our intelligence agencies actively involved in picking random people from cities across Pakistan which then goes missing for years.Oh God help Pakistan
