Kidnapping: Four-year-old abducted boy brought home

A four-year-old boy abducted a month ago by some neighbours in Rizvia society was recovered  from Nazimabad on Saturday.

Abdul Rehman, son of Muhammad Khalil, was kidnapped from outside his house in Jahangirabad in Rizvia Society on June 30. Afterwards, the alleged kidnappers had demanded Rs10 million from his family through a phone call.

After the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) succesfully found the boy, they traced the four kidnappers and arrested Nadir, Zeeshan, Babu and his wife. The two kidnappers, Nadir and Zeeshan, were neighbours of the boy and kept him at their sister’s house in Block A, North Nazimabad.

This joint effort of the CPLC and the AVCC has resulted in their 18th successful recovery in the last six months. Over one dozen kidnappers were killed, while no abducted person was hurt in this time.

CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, while talking to The Express Tribune, said that this one was a sensitive case as the kidnappers and the abducted knew each other as they lived on the same street. “In such cases, kidnappers usually kill the abducted person,” he explained. “This is why we took time to recover the boy.”



AVCC chief SP Niaz Khosa said that the culprits arrested are not professionals but they have been involved in some serious offenses in the past. He said that the abducted boy’s father is a small factory owner of women purses and could not pay Rs10 million as ransom money. “We convinced the family to pay Rs200,000 for ransom and that is how we caught the kidnappers and recovered the boy.” SP Khosa further said that the money was later handed over to the family while the cases were registered against the arrested suspects. Further investigation into the case is underway.
