Senate Vote Recount: Independent beats JUI-F man

QUETTA: Independent candidate Dr Ashok Kumar has been declared elected to the Senate following a recount of the 2012 Senate elections for the seat. JUI-F’s Himan Das was previously declared elected, leading Dr Kumar to approach the election tribunal in this regard. The Election Tribunal headed by Balochistan High Court’s judge Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, ordered the Election Commission for recount under the supervision of the High Court’s registrar. According to the results of the recount which was held in front of the lawyers of both contestants, Dr Kumar was declared winner.
