Raid: Police party thrashed

FAISALABAD: Several police officials from Shahkot police station were beaten by villagers on Thursday. Officials said the police had received a tip about proclaimed offender Nasrullah residing in Ghulam Muhammadabad. A police team headed by SHO Tariq Mehmood raided a house to arrest the proclaimed offender. However, the police faced severe resistance from the inmates. They beat the policemen with clubs and detained ASI Ajmal and Constable Muzammal Aziz. They allegedly tore off their uniforms as well. The raiding team called for reinforcements but when a second police team arrived, the inmates managed to flee. The police have registered a case against 12 men and a woman and constituted a special team to trace their whereabouts.
