Security splinters: Seven outlaws terrorise the street, loot bank in ten minutes

Meezan Bank’s Clifton branch robbed off Rs2.5 million.

KARACHI: The robbers made a swift escape after taking away over Rs2.5 million, along with security guards’ weapons, from Meezan Bank’s Clifton branch on Wednesday. 

The Clifton branch of the bank is located in Block-2, under the jurisdiction of the Boat Basin police station, where the criminal activity took place.

The witnesses’ confirmed that at least seven men clad in shalwar kameez entered the bank and held the staffers and customers hostage on gunpoint. The criminals held the two security guards hostage and allegedly spoke Pashtu while communicating with each other.

The on-duty inspector, sub-inspector, Zulfiqar Ali, while talking to The Express Tribune, said that the police obtained the DVR system’s footages found from the bank and were trying to trace the criminals with its help, along with the witnesses.

The police officer added that the robbers managed to take away about Rs2,568,630 from the bank. The police have registered an FIR No. 396/13 on bank manager, Sagar Shaikh’s, complaint. Further investigation into the case is underway.
