A meeting in this regard was held at Kohat Road Industrial Estate chaired by SIDB Employees Union President Sahibzada Naseem Khan on Wednesday. Addressing the union members, Khan criticised the decision and called it “a step towards more unemployment.”
“There are 200 permanent employees and 400 contact employees in SIDB. If it is dissolved, these 600 workers will be left jobless,” Khan explained. “We have been informed that the government was actively considering the option of dissolving both the organisations responsible for the development of the industrial sector in the province on the pretext of its ‘ineffectiveness’ in recent years. But let me inform you, the employees would resist the decision at every forum,” he warned.

Instead of closing down the companies, the government should make both SDA and SIDB more active and effective which would create job opportunities, resulting in reduced unemployment, added Khan.
He also demanded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan to take notice of the situation.
