ISLAMABAD: In a boost for the otherwise beleaguered Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), it managed to secure support of the Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal group (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman for its Presidential candidate, Radio Pakistan reported.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Aitzaz Ahsan led PPP delegation in Islamabad on Tuesday night, the JUI-F chief said that the two parties enjoy friendly relations.
Fazl added that the JUI-F would try to support a joint candidate for the presidential election.
Ahsan said that the JUI-F has agreed to the idea of a joint candidate for the presidency. He added that there could be no better candidate for the office of the president than the PPP’s Senator Raza Rabbani.
On the other hand, PPP and MQM also had contact to deliberate on a candidate for the president.

This guy has no principles whatsoever. Even after PPP got wiped in the elections last election for their poor performance, JUI-F still thinks it's a good idea to side with them. Imagine if their votes ever questioned their moves?!
Maulana Fazal is not only a maulvi but a good politician also.Raza Rabbani is really a very suitable candidate for the slot. Very clean, why not.
I really hope PTI also supports Raza Rabbani, a joint candidate actually might have a fighting chance. Especially now that JUIF is on board. Raza Rabbani is the finest man in parliament and being in PPP but still being untainted is a huge feat.
@Max: Well said, you just took my thoughts away from me.
Waiting for a deal offer from PMLN.
JUI(F) sitting on treasury benches but their vote for opposition...any principles Maulana Sahab?
Thats all these molvis have to throw around, excess weight. And thats exactly what they are to Pakistan as well, excess baggage.
Raza Rabanni is probably thinking, 'Thanks JUI-F, but you really shouldn't have!'
what a wrongun.
JUI-F or not JUI-F, he is not going to get elected.
