As incentive, informants who help the government identify losses will receive up to 2% of the fine as a reward.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif convened a CCI meeting on Tuesday with a view to build consensus after consultation with all provinces. Chief ministers from all of the four provinces are present at the meeting.
The CCI session will focus on revising previous energy policies, including an amendment in the 1992 Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) that had been previously opposed at the provincial level, particularly by Punjab.

why isn;t there any punishment / fines for the people not paying their bills. like some of the governement offices and police stations. even at the level of making new laws. The fact that WAPDA has not requested any such laws, despite knowing that these are also a major chunk responsible for the current horrible situation, shows that WAPDA is only doing all this to simply "LOOK BUSY" Shame on you !!!! WAPDA and CCI !!!

The shortsightedness of Nawaz, his lust for power, and animosity towards the federal government, pushed the country in total darkness. I remember in 1990s, his Punjab government even tore down a road built by the federal government.
So this is the magic wand that came out of the pattari of the new energy policy. And you needed CCI, the PM, four CMs, to conclude this? A simple implementation issue which could be handled as a simple bill was needed, which you need anyways.
Mr Sharif somewhere along the line you will have to make a new prisons. hope you made provisions in your budget for them
The penalties for electrical and gas companies must be twice of consumers as without their tacit approval these theft will not happen.
Question is do we have enough jails?
The bribe rates just went up!
Is a person who deliberately does not pay his bill because he is a very high government officer or a politician or a relative of one of them, also a thief ?.........or have they been given a fancy title to keep them safe and we the public end up paying for them.
Can we start in Islamabad? Does none payment also constitute theft? For example, Aiwan-e-Sadr, PM Secretariat and Judiciary Colony - to name a few? I second that what PAKISTANI has said - enough sound bites - how about enforcement??
It was shocking to read that 157 MW electricity has been recovered in Lahore alone, Please keep doing the good work, it seems we have around 3000-4000 MW of electricity thefts.
Enough laws, we need IMPLEMENTATION.
How many parliamentarians wouldbe, I wonder.
