BAHAWALPUR/ LAHORE:

Bahawalpur police on Monday recovered an abducted child and arrested two of his kidnappers, DPO Sohail Habib Tajik said at a press conference at his office.

Mustaqeem, 13, was abducted from Officers’ Colony near Fawara Chowk a week ago. The kidnappers had taken him to Kehror Pucca and called Mustaqeem’s father, Muhammad Akram, who lived in Saudi Arabia, asking him for a Rs3 million ransom, Tajik said. Akram told the kidnappers that he would pay Rs500,000 immediately and asked for two days to arrange the remaining amount. He also informed the Cantonment police station. DPO Tajik said that a team led by City Assistant Superintendent Zeeshan Shafiq tracked the abductors and arrested them from Fauji Basti, Bahawalpur. They also recovered Rs200,000 of the Rs500,000 that Akram had paid and are looking for the remaining kidnappers.
