Khyber-2: Five terrorists among seven slain in operation

Two security officials and five terrorists were killed in an operation against militants in the mountains between the Frontier Region Kohat and Khyber Agency on Saturday, official sources said.


The total number of terrorists killed within the past 48 hours of operations has reached 15 while four security officials have been killed so far, officials claimed.

The security forces launched the operation named Khyber-2, late Friday night, in a bid to secure Peshawar from increasing militant attacks, they said.

Officials claimed that they had dismantled two hideouts of the militants so far. Heavy artillery is being used to dislodge the militants, they said.

“The operation was launched against a nexus of militants and criminals that had been residing in the area of Zao Kharmatang,” said an official, adding that the security forces were clearing the areas of Sur Ghar and Sher Garh at the moment.
