ISLAMABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah on Saturday called on Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar here to discuss development projects in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

The governor appreciated the initiatives taken by the federal government for the revival of economy and said a positive improvement was being seen. Shaukatullah conveyed an invitation form the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce to the Finance Minister for visit, which he accepted.

The finance minister assured the governor that despite financial constraints, all the legitimate financial requirements of the tribal areas would be met. Dar said that all political parties should unite to address the economic problems facing the country.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata) in particular have been a priority for many international bodies which are carrying out development work in Fata. The previous government had initiated power generation and water storage in Fata to help the province in irrigation and resolve the power crisis.

The finance minister recalled he had made a plea in that regard in his post-budget speech in parliament in last month. The government, he said, had cleared 67% of the circular debt settling dues of the independent power producers and was in the process of clearing the balance amount before the deadline.
