All decisions made by Sethi in his capacity as caretaker chairman are null and void, as the legalities of the caretaker position does not allow such action.
According to the court’s decision, Najam Sethi will monitor the day-to-day functions of the PCB till a new chairman is elected under the supervision of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Requirements for the position of the new PCB chairman include qualifications of a former cricketer and minimum education of a graduate degree.
The court has termed articles 28, 29, 30 and 31 of the constitution of the PCB as invalid and asked for them to be scrapped immediately.
Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) had on June 25 termed the appointment of Sethi as contrary to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s constitution. On June 26, an amateur cricketer Abdullah Tahir filed a petition against the appointment in the Islamabad High Court, and demanded his immediate removal.
Tahir, a law graduate, in his petition claimed that Sethi’s appointment was made on a ‘political basis’ which was in violation of the PCB constitution.
The petitioner argued that the ICC has upgraded its standard to separate politics from cricket. Subsequently, the constitution of the board was amended. He requested the court to declare the appointment of Sethi as illegal, and pass an order for the appointment of a professional from the relevant field.

@naeem khan Manhattan,Ks: Believe me, your writings and your opinions did reflect your level pretty realistically and I personally didn't consider you as much, but of course, have sympathies for you. Now that you yourself confess the fact that you find yourself with 2 Masters inferior than High School Graduates, there's isn't much one can or should add here, except that yes even education can NOT make any difference when the minds are so tightly shut.
Sethi Sahab's Chiriya (bird) has shown its work :) once again.
@naeem khan Manhattan,Ks: It is not about degree, real or otherwise. It's the criminal mindset, the thuggery of these so called elites which has to be exposed and condemned. All such thugs must be exposed and the pseudo charm and glamour and power of their names and connections must be demolished, destroyed for ever and ever so that a normal society can evolve a society free of exploitations and oppressions and subjugation of a whole people here in our Pakistan.
Just imagine how these judges would have behaved had this appointment made by PPP or PTI. But its not, Mr. Sharif has these courts in his pocket.
@Punjabi: By the way a degree does not make a person smarter than the one who is just a common labour, case in point is that of Bill Gates, he was a drop out from college. Sure education does broaden people's outlook on life and humanity but it does not make any one intelligent, personally I have 2 masters degrees from US universities but I have met people who are high school graduates but lot smarter than me or any other college graduates. It is all about IQ, higher the IQ the smarter they are. I have met millionaires with high school diplomas and PhDs who are struggling to live day to day.So please don't judge a person just because they have no formal college education, by the way Pakistanis are smart and hard working people if only given the chance to excel and that include the people from villages.
The absolute irony of this country is that blackmailing anchors and journalists, with the backing of superpowers, are literally more powerful than the politicians.
As per law and constitution of the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN he can not be even acting chairman; IHC must re-learn the constitution before sitting in the benches
Sethi is good cricketer?
Yes he is the chairman of PCB. Why do we need the permission of court in every thing. Do you people think that they are the only 'socraties" in Pakistan. Most of them became Lawyers because they failed to be any thing worth a name.
Did the all knowing Najam Sethi did not know or he did not care to know. What a shame!!!
LOL Future chairman and PCB heads doesn't like the decision which made a full stop on taking their wives and children with them on official PCB tours on PCB expenses.
There is no love lost between Sethi and the judges. http://www.thefridaytimes.com/beta3/tft/article.php?issue=20130719&page=1
