NBP crash out after rain interrupts tie
Weather disrupts Ramazan T20 Cup match against SNGPL.
KARACHI:
NBP’s Ramazan T20 Cup campaign ended in disappointment as rain washed out their game against SNGPL and finished their chances of progressing to the semi-finals.
Before the match, NBP had succumbed to two successive losses, while SNGPL had one loss from their only outing as both teams locked horns in a decisive tie.
Choosing to bat first, SNGPL got off to a flying start, racing to 145 for two in just 14 overs. However, rain interrupted the proceedings and both teams had to settle for a point each.
Azhar Ali top-scored with 72 off just 39 balls with two sixes and nine strikes to the fence, while in-form Ali Waqas scored a 37-ball 57 with the help of a six and seven boundaries.
Hammad Azam and Usman Qadir picked up one wicket each.
Elsewhere, PQA continued to rule Group B with six points as they marched into the semi-finals. ZTBL and KRL hold the second and third positions respectively with two points from two matches.
PIA and HBL have already qualified for the semi-finals from Group A.
