ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered that the accounts held by Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi and Islamabad be frozen, reported Express News on Friday. The order was given during the hearing of the Employees Old Age Benefit Institute (EOBI) scam case
The court further added that the accounts will remain frozen till the owed amount, Rs22.24 billion is not paid back.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday had ordered DHA to submit Rs22.24 billion that EOBI had paid to it in a shadowy deal to purchase 321 kanals of land.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed DHA’s advocate Ahmer Bilal Sufi to deposit the money with the court’s registrar office by July 19 or furnish the details of the DHA’s assets. “The assets can be attached if the money was not deposited,” he added.
Advocate Sufi tried to convince the bench that the land was worth purchasing, the deal would benefit the EOBI and its investment was secure. He said that the developmental work on the land had been 70% to 80% done and was due to complete within 3 months. He further added that Rs 9 billion and Rs 11 billion had also been respectively provided to the DHA and Habib Rafique Group and Bahria Town for the developmental work.
“The DHA does not have such a huge equity right now to deposit with the SC’s registrar and some time may be given to the authority for explaining its position,” Sufi argued on Thursday.

@Muhammad Iqbal: During the independence of Pakistan the population was about 400 trillion but the land of East Pakistan has separated by Gen Yahya Khan Government. Now our population is about 2200 trillion excluding of 100 trillion of Afghan refugees. We the need of agriculture was increasing day by day as compare with the population. The housing society in Pakistan is no more feasible and in future construction of houses will be multiple stories and to cope the requirement of new generation. In future trend of housing society is no more further requirement. Malik Riaz and DHA is totally crime against the new generation which will be removed in near future. All Pakistani are requested to please save your generation eating requirements. DHA prove himself as crime. This is not allowed by any Pakistani to ruin their future. Army worked under rule and regulation as framed in Constitution and they are not allowed to work as properties dealers.

@Nadir: You think is good but we are drawing Rs. 3600 per month being a pensioners under EOBI and having no plat form to protect our EOBI interest, To keep the raio of cost of living how can we live in meager amount. Keeping in view of heavy funds in EOBI we request CJ to intervene in our low drawing. Our pension should not be less than Rs. 18,000/- to fulfill our daily requirement easily. The benefit taken from EOBI funds are on Gunda elements and employees working at EOBI. Master of this funds are regularly ignored. Total pensioners are above 300.000 and employees at EOBI are above 150,000/-. The benefit is only EOBI employees for not fund master. Please see their financial accounts available on web site for the year 2010-11. Master are begger and EOBI are giving welfare funds to flood relief amounting to Rs. 100 trillion including advertisement in the all newspaper, channels regarding anniversaries, and eid mubarks etc etc. and purchase one properties for Rs. 52 lac and paid Rs. 354 to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf son of laws.. The properties at Karachi are continuously using by MQM official and not paying single penny of rent. This party declare that they protect the interest of poorest peoples of Pakistan and act as O Jaghir Dara Ma A Gah Hun
@Nadir: You are right bjut our army solider did not allow to take away poorest peoples funds for benefit of Gunda elements. EOBI pensioners are drawing Rs. 3600/- per month can be live with these amount for which days?. Mountain of funds are available in our account. On the other hand your Fauji Foundation condition you can imagine. Chairman Fauji Foundation called meeting for business of Foundation in a topoo of Brazil you can read the column of Rauf Kalsara and think what happen are with you. CJ take goods action because Armed forces are not a trading house and we did not allow them to utilized their mind in other fields. Write loss think above.

We are alive and did not allow to play game with old age benefit pensioners. I request all the old age benefit pensioners to come on one plat for to protect their interest with any scarify i,e, body wise, social wise etc etc. to take positive result and result for those Gunda elements that their master are alive not died.
@Real Estate Agent: Yes supreme court have take good decision because why any persons looting our heavy amount being a servant.We are getting pension Rs. 3600 per month and Gunda elements are looting our money frequently. @Ali Khan: The deal is wrong because the land was worth Rs. 1 Billion and EOBI paid Rs 16 Billion. Most of which DHA handed over to Malik Riaz, along with Rs. 62 Billion to develop DHA Valley which still hasnt been developed. EOBI is not supposed to invest the money this way to begin with.
is this because DHA refused to allot plots to judges without them paying in a structured manner like the armed forces. The court should deal with other things. if EOIB payed for the 321 kanals of land and DHA has prepared it in 3 months time. then how has DHA violated any deal? this is just stupid.
Its worth decision by SC to prevent such scam and frauds by some black sheeps in government and in private sector act jointly. In past these people had damaged the public institutions and public investments,

@Nadir , once u dnt know something in detail plz dnt comment on it , jawans will also suffer , along with officers , as they also get the house in DHA , and for ur knowledge and all others like u , armed forces personnel do not get house for free , for entire length off their services they pay for the house each month , and each one of them also pay the tax before they get salary.
this should not happen as it demoralize armed forces.

Its a travesty that the money of salary workers pensions has been used to bankroll a bankrupt DHA Islamabad. Its a further travesty that a large chunk of that money has ended up with Bahria Town. In effect EOBI, supposedly a welfare organization, is subsidising an elite enclave, Bahria Town.

Is this DHA Valley where the money was paid??...If yes, then it is the second scam by DHA in DHA Valley. First was when DHA paid Bahria Town more than 60 billion in a shadowy deal....
Hmm. . . this will probably lead to mass suicides, unless the SC also protects the interests of the consumer whom DHA will now charge extra to cover its losses.
