The committee will comprise additional chief secretary planning and development and Special Secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs Syed Alamgir Shah. It will ascertain facts behind the murder, and why the FIR was not registered in the relevant police station in Peshawar.
It is also tasked to examine the medico-legal aspects of the case and will fix responsibility on those officials who failed to provide justice. The report will be presented within seven days.
On May 18, Wahida was visiting her parent’s house in University Town, Peshawar with her two children, when she left for her brother’s house after dinner. However, she was found dead at her brother’s residence on the morning of May 19.
Wahida’s brother Khalid Khan and sister-in-law Fouzia had been arrested after the chief justice of Pakistan took suo motu notice of the case. On Saturday, the investigation officer confirmed Wahida was the daughter-in-law of IG Amin and had married his son Ali Yameen a few years ago.
