LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday instructed the Bahawalnagar district and sessions judge to investigate press reports about the rape of a 15-year-old girl and her mother in front of her father in Fort Abbas. According to the news reports, five masked men broke into a labourer’s house in Chak 257/H at night, tied him up and raped his wife and daughter for several hours, leaving the teenager unconscious. They then took away his store of wheat and a mobile phone and fled. Though the attackers had tried to cover their faces, the family recognised one of them, say the reports. Some villagers protested at the Fort Abbas DSP’s office, following which the police arrested the man identified by the family. The suspect reportedly confessed during the course of his interrogation. Police then arrested two other men, while two remain at large. The LHC complaint cell has directed the Bahawalnagar judge to investigate the matter and submit a report within a week of the steps taken by the police and his own findings.
