The government had earlier instructed no load-shedding take place during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh timings in Ramazan. However, power outages still remain the norm in the capital city and the rest of the province.
K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Saturday censured the federal government over unscheduled power outages during Ramazan and demanded the Federal Ministry for Water and Power to provide K-P its full share of electricity.
During a press conference in Peshawar on Sunday, PTI MNAs said that PTI is with its people and will support them on the streets.
They further added that CM Khattak will lead the demonstrations.

This isn't about PTI OR PML N! What this is about the due share? The share has been promised by the federal government and is ought to be given, let alone the governance of Khatak in his province!
@Ch. Allah Daad: Please stop counting FATA as part of KPK. You must be joking saying 100KV transformers for each home. Its not the case even in Islamabad. Back in my village in KPK, we have around 200 homes for a 100KV transformer. And let me tell you a thing, people there pay more bills than what people use to pay in Islamabad for same amount of usage.
I voted for PTI hoping for change, but it's becoming clear that they're complete novices who haven't got a clue on how to govern a province (let alone a country) - all they're good for is sloganeering, protesting, dharnas and being crybabies who lay the blame on anyone but themselves.
All electricity suppliers should be put in the hands of foreign private companies. That's the only way to say a firm 'no' to power theft and non-payments (I remember reading a report that said that KPK and interior Sindh lead in power theft and non-payment of electricity bills). Privatization of KESC was MQM's biggest gift to Karachi during their tenure, now most middle-class areas of Karachi have no more than 3 hours of timely loadshedding daily (including the one where I live), while a lot of middle-class areas where bill collection is above 80% have no loadshedding at all - and despite this, this year was KESC's first profitable year in over two decades. Those who do not pay or steal should be the ones suffering for it. Nobody has a God-given right to free electricity.
@Najib Ur Rehman: you never cared for Punjab
Why he would care for Punjab when in Punjab he was pushed down and left paralyzed for months
@Ali S: Protesting against power theft would probably be more productive typical PTI trolls post. Power theft isa simple administrative issue. Power supply company is responsible to stop it and in this process may take help from KPK government. Now a CM of KPK would protest against power thieves. It will make him funniest CM world has ever seen
For all those jahil PTI supporters, you say punjab never produced any electricity for its self?? Lahore has its own thermal plant producing 600MW, faisalabad, multan, gujranwala have ther own, mangla is in kashmir but electricity is administered to punjab,,,punjab produces about 5000MW in total....it needs 9000MW
If your average deen-e-ilzami troll owned a funeral parlor, people would stop dying! Almost anything their youthful and efficient joke of a government tries to do in KPK ends up blowing back on their faces. Need not remind worshiping knucklehead posse that it was none other than holy father Imran David Koresh Khan who issued an edict before the elections that SS was a showman who was feigning the power demonstrations in Punjab since the 18th Amendment granted exclusivity to provinces when it came to power generation. He even went to the extent of claiming that Zardari is unfairly being targetted (reinforcing the gospel truth that his upper deck is empty to the core).
Advise for the trolls, quit politics and start lining up outside the proposed site of Burger King in Karachi. IK ain`nt even the King of Burgers any longer :D
@Ch. Allah Daad:
In FATA who can ask for electricity bills? In there Punjab's favourite Taliban kill and destroy anything that comes in their way. Howver, now that PMLN is in power they should get those bills from FATA which is a federally administrative area. However Itifaaq Foundry itself is a major defaulter of electricity bills according to Lesco website so how can they demand bill payments from any one else?
@Sajid Iqbal: I was very generous to say 70% steal electricity in KP. I have been to many rural areas of KP and FATA and did not see any single meter installed at any home and most of the houses had individual 50 to 100 KV transformers installed. Although it was few years back but I am sure these people haven't started paying their bills.
PTI trolls are suffering from memory lapses, when their dual-office holder leaders try to divert the attention. Generation of electricity is a provincial subject after 18th amendment!
Prior to the elections, PTI used to criticise ANP govt in KPK for suicide attacks, drone strikes and NATO routes but with its own govt in KPK it passes the buck to Federal Government. Similarly, PTI used to criticise PMLN's govt in Punjab for massive loadshedding and non-initiation of power projects in Punjab. But with PTI govt in KPK and 18th Amendment part of the Constitution of Pakistan, it is responsibility of the provincial govt to generate additional electricity to remove loadshedding.
The failing dramas of PTI are uncovering with each passing day. While KPK is bracing the highest percentage of line losses with over 40% power thefts, lifetime Chairman Imran Khan enjoys the sips of champaign with the royal family in UK.
Again, PTI is protesting against its share of electricity that is due on the federal government. The payment of electricity or the wastage of electricity is a completely different issue and has no link to the issue discussed above. Secondly those who say that they are in power and are not mature enough to protest, well provincial governments do protest against Federal government and that is nothing new in fact it is A democratic way of obtaining their rights. The federal government is only federal in name and has paid mere attention to the terrorism problem in KPK, Balochistan and Karachi where apparently urgent action is required. Although the action is still in progress! As far as payment of bills are concerned as to one brother of mine said that Punjabis pay 99% of them, why not consider who is the producer and in return KPK can "sell" or "trade" it with other provinces that would help it to generate funds or resources, that would be more com-pliable with what the Anti PTI people said above
Again, PTI is protesting against its share that is due on the central government. The payment & the wastage of electricity is a completely different issue and has no link with 18th Amendment. As far as their maturity is concerned, the only thing Provincial government can ask for its rights is by protesting. PML N has once again shown that it is a Punjabi Party. Mere attention has been given to the law and order situation in Sindh, Balochistan and KPK where the civilian provincial government has apparently failed to curb the terrorism. If we are actually considering as to who pays the more bill as one of the commentator said that 99% of Punjabis pay bill then why not actually see who is producing more electricity and the province that produces more can sell it to their neighboring provinces to generate funds?
even if PTI make power plants the fedral govt will steal it away so its useless to try unless fedral govt ensure that each province gets its share.. once share is allocated then each province should add more power that should be exculsive to it. KPK share is 2600mw(17% of total production) its producing 4000mw(excluding 1400 mw ghazi brotha which is 70% in KPK) yet its not even given its own pool..only given 1000mw thats less than whats lahore is being provided with.. this is shame ful act of cruelty by PMLN just to ensure its votes in punjab.net result it will hurt pakistan beyond repair
@Nosherwan Shahid Shaikh: becuase the supreme court and PML N said they will distribute electricity on population basis..making kpk share 17% i.e 2100mw but we are being offered 1000mw only out of which 700 mw is produced by local small dams while province as whole is producing 4000mw in hydro..
@Ch. Allah Daad:
How can you tell that? Check Lesco site to see who is the biggest defaulter. Hint: That would be someone from a major Punjabi party.
Also those resources belong to other provinces, whether they pay bills or not its their problem.
@Khan Gul,
I have found the guy on Linkedin but yes no website of Galaxy Technology was found. I have sent a msg to him for a response.
@Sajid Iqbal:
Also, why gas produced in Sindh is not available in Sindh and gas has to be rationed in Sindh to provide it to Punjab? Seems Punjab is eating away on resources of rest of provinces and rest of provinces are poor because of Punjab.
Did i mention that this is against 18th ammendment of the consitution of pakistan?
no need for PTI to make Dams etc in KPK..... they are already producing more electricity then any province.... Their demand in the hot days are 2500 MW Daily while they are producing above 5000 MW... at present the Province is getting only 900 MV... is this justified???????? they just want their right and if their CM is with them why you people start crying............................!!!!!!!!!!
@Ch. Allah Daad: Oh really? What is your source of all this precious information?
Being a major power producer, WAPDA should be either transfered to KPK or Islamabad but not in Lahore. Here lies the solution to the problem.
The main culprit behind these prevailing situations in Pakistan is due to voters from Punjab. Punjab Walon tumne is ganjey ko tesri dafa hukumat bananey ka mouka dekar sahi nahin kiya. Kiyunke iski bolti pey sadma hai.
Now he is Punjab P.M. not the P.M. of Pakistan. The so-called P.M. and Chief Minister of Punjab playing with the masses. They have again started Punjabism, favouritism, regionalism politics in Pakistan. They have imposed heavy taxes on common people and people are passing through hard days due to high rocketing prices. Mr. Nawaz Sharif was delivering in pre-poll election speeches as follows:-
Garib Aadmi ka bura haal hai log khud kushiyan kar rahe hain.
They have created the worst situations for poor people in the country. Candidly speaking they are inviting one more martial law in Pakistan.
99 percent Punjabis pay their bills honestly. There is hardly any Bijli Chore in Punjab, whereas in KP over 70 percent don't pay their bills. KP government led by youth should collect electricity dues before going to streets. It has failed miserably to curb corruption and terrorism. Comparing Mian Sahib's protests and present KP's government's is comparing apples with oranges.
Protest? You are in government, you dont have the luxury to protest, govern.
KPK is a electricity surplus province while punjab isnot. KPK produces electicity thats costs 5 PKR/unit while others produce is 14 PKR/unit... This situation isnot acceptable at all for KPK people! and i stand with them for this unjustice!
@HMC For your information MOUs have no legal values. Which can be clearly seen by its abbreviation Memorandum Of Understanding!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Please correct me if I am wrong. I am not a naive person but isn't Pti a party in power in frontier/ kpk. Why is there a march by a ruling party against power cuts. It is a administrative issue and should be dealth likewise. It is a story of a person wanting to share the cake but ate it too. Where is the naya pakistan ? The people will have to eat grass as zulfi said, sad but true with pak rupees hitting 100 plus to a dollar. I must insist the people of west Bengal are still happier and under a proper guidance can do wonders. I am a proud Indian punjabi an its my expression of views. Sat Sri akal, rab rakha. Hypocrisy sucks. Khayal rakhio
Protests are for opposition. PTI government need to set-up some power units pronto.
Wow genious! Driving out poor souls in the sacred month of Ramazan while your leader is enjoying his holidays in London. Why not make your own electricity as you claimed before elections? Thank God PTI did not form the government in centre or else all the major issues would then be solved by protests. PTI=DHARNA PARTY.
@affandawood bro I hope u know that punjab has already started various power projects like nandipur power plant and solar power plants with help of Asian development bank.punjab was 1st to do it.moreover, major crackdown against gas and electricity theives is going on.how many operations against electricity theives have been taken by kpl govt? how many steps have beeb taken by kpk govt to minimize line losses? kpk will get electricity according to their bill payments.its not possible that kpk does nothing against theft n keep crying for electricity.
They are asking for their due share not favours from centre. This is different from what Mr. Shahbaz Sharif used to do in last tenure. How much electricity does Punjab produce? Get your brains working before you criticize.
The most inefficient govt KP ever had. To this day we don't know who is in charge
Dear friends, let's play a game. HMC claims PTI govt signed a MoU with Edward Bickham of Galaxy Consortium (in the link he mentioned). Let us find on google a person called Edward Bickham or a company called Galaxy Consortium
The SC has ordered that load shedding be equally shared. Go file a review petition if you feel that is the wrong decision. The federal government is merely following SC directives.
Political differences aside, why electricity produced in KPK is not available for its own people? KPK produces surplus electricity(and cheapest one in the country), yet it's people are deprived of their right share. For all of you that going to sing national interest/unity songs, in face of wheat shortage, how many times Punjab and other provinces came to KPK rescue that too without full-fulling their needs first?
LOL at the comments of our PML-N Buddies , As much as i can remember Shahbaz Sharif also protested for PUnjab but didnt produced Electricity but on the other hand , KPK is producing 4800 MW of Electricity and the demand of the province is 2300 MW and still there is 18 hrs of Load Shedding and as for coming in mind KPK Govt has already made a deal with Hong kong for a 2 billion dollar investment in Energy sector in their first 30 days which Shahbaz couldnt do in 2.5 years . .
Dear Brothers and sisters who have commented above, please understand the context of the protest statement. KP is not being given the promised share of power and that is controlled from the distribution center in Islamabad. This is the point CM KPK is protesting against.
On the other hand, KP govt. has already started initiatives in the power sector for the province by signing a MOU with Galaxy Technologies worth 2 Billion Dollars. Please see: http://www.insaf.pk/News/tabid/60/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/16629/KPK-Government-sign-MOU-with-Galaxy-Technologies.aspx
This regime is same as of Zardari..For all PTI haters KPK is generating more energy then its own requirements..it is Noon in center who is doing injustice to KPK...on other hand Punjab never produced any electricity for its own consumption in five years.
For all those who are comparing the Punjab's Government's situations, before elections, to the PTI's current situation who have just been in power for 40 days, have to realize that the 18th Amendment doesnt make you a superman to solve the electricity crises in 40 days.
The criticism on Punjab Government was valid as they spent 4 years doing nothing and the last year making metros and distributing lappis without generating a WATT of non-alternate energy.
PMLN's governance in Punjab was only limited to 3 schools, 1 housing scheme, free laptops and a bus in 5 years. Which is pathetic. Even MQM contribted better in Musharraf's era.
@Nosherwan bro production and distribution are two different things.. As such KPK already tarbella.. why on earth would kpk need another dam !! the stance is that all the power is collected in National Grid Islamabad .. then distributed through out the coutry by mean ratio ..
PTI should ensure collection of electricity dues from KPK. they have been using free electricity for ages and have contributed to the circular debt. now before someone reply about the dams being in KPK, i would say its a huge investment that federal govt did long back and dams are federation property never managed by provinces. PTI has been criticizing SS for 5 yrs for not starting power projects, not sure how many projects has KPK govt started
Give the Federal Government one hundred days before you launch your protests. Don't be rash in the best interests of the nation. Show some maturity.
Mr Imran Khan, Why you never protested for load-shedding in Punjab? because you could only care for those who brought you to power. you never cared for Punjab
When Shahbaz Sharif was protesting against load-shedding, PTI called it Drama. and SS a Drama-Minister. What does this make CM Pervez Khattak? Hint: what do monkeys do?
@Hamza:
shahbaz sharif was an idiot in doing that, as khattak is now.
where was PTI when there was clear discrimination with punjab in the last term????????? PTI do not cry, this is whole nations problem. Now you are also responsible for producing electricity,
Had PTI been in power, they would have resolved this crisis in 90 days. On sidenote, 60% of KPK problems have been resolved in 60 days.
Instead of complaining tap the bountiful water resources in KP to make cheap electricity. PTI wake up! Make roads and develop infrastructure for tourism provide security so much to do but we love to complain and protest.
KPK not being given 650MW of it's share according to NFC award.
and all pml-n ppl pls dont criticize pti on this as your own shohbaz sharif protested against load shedding in lahore. and said kai zardari ko bhatti chownk mein ulta latka doon ga
Protesting against power theft would probably be more productive
Pti is going to start dirty politics; they r going to hide their failures in kpk under the umbrella of agitation.
Federal is unfair to KP........,,,!!!!!
Good move my CM KPK to divert media and public attention from IK's wonderful summer holidays in the UK.
Lol,point scoring, why not carry out demonstration against break issues like terrorism.
everybody wants to be SS. now who is copying who?
What a pity this party is! Electricity and its generations was a provincial issue by virtue of the 18th Amendment. PTI made fun of Shahbaz Sharif when he resorted to a camp at Minar e Pakistan, and today, they being in power are leading a protest march!
Way to go PTI !!!
