Gunned down: Special police force official killed

On July 8, one person was killed and two others were injured.

MINGORA: An official of the special police force was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Nawakaley, Mingora early Friday morning.

According to the Mingora police station, Amanullah Khan was performing his duty in Nawakaley when unidentified assailants opened fire at him at around 3am. Khan was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. After the incident, security forces launched a search operation in the area. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.

During the last two weeks, several incidents of target killings have occurred in Swat. On July 8, one person was killed and two others were injured when unidentified persons opened fire at them at a bus stand in Matta. Similarly, on June 28, a policeman was killed and another was injured when they were fired upon by unidentified armed men. The attackers later hid in a house, but police surrounded the residence and killed the two militants in an encounter.
