ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that he would like to ensure peace in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Express News reported.

Nawaz Sharif said that he is in contact with President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai and believed that doors for negotiation should remain open at all times.

The premiere declared his motives during a meeting with the MPAs of Fata at the Prime Minister House, Islamabad.

Fata has been facing lawlessness and economic plight due to terrorism in the region, said the premiere.

He further added that eliminating terrorism is their first priority and for this purpose a mutual strategy is needed.

Fata MPAs are the real stakeholders of this issue and to ensure peace and stability he is in contact with them, Nawaz Sharif said.

Earlier, Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Dr Asif Kirmani had contacted the Fata lawmakers and invited them for a meeting on Wednesday to discuss issues relating to national security, development and administration to bring the area at par with the rest of the country.

Sources in the PM office told The Express Tribune that the Fata parliamentarians also wanted representatives of security agencies to be present at the meeting. The prime minister, however, was of the contrary view given that military and security officials are due to give an in-camera briefing at the all-party conference (APC) on July 12.

Sources added that Nawaz was keen on evolving broad-based consensus on the new national security policy.

"Ensure peace and stability?" You can only ensure something that is available somewhere to begin with. First they have to find these two long forgotten and extinct conditions in KPK
