Nationwide Scheme: HEC promises laptops on merit

HEC chairman said Laptop Scheme for Youth was being expanded to other parts of the country.

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will follow a merit-based criteria for implementing the Laptop Scheme, recently announced by the government for brilliant students across the country.

HEC chairman Dr Javaid R Laghari told APP that the Laptop Scheme for Youth, after gaining great popularity in Punjab, was being expanded to other parts of the country so that outstanding students can be rewarded.

“It is very necessary to equip the students with latest knowledge and laptop facility with access to internet that will keep them in touch with the external world,” he observed.
