LAHORE:

Engineers of the Chinese company Dong Feng, who had been working at Nandipur Power Project, arrived at Karachi on Monday. According to an official handout issued here, the Chinese engineers arrived in Karachi to secure the release of equipment to be used in the Nandipur Power Project, lying idle at the Karachi Port.

Chinese engineers will also visit the Nandipur Power Project site to initiate developmental work at the earliest. The Nandipur Power project was scheduled to be completed in 2011, but due to several delays and obstacles that came up during the previous government’s tenure, the project was inordinately delayed.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the Dong Feng management during his recent visit to China, and expressed his desire to restart the development work at Nandipur Power Project, without any further delay.
