MULTAN:

A woman committed suicide on Sunday by jumping in front of a train in Khanewal with her 8-month-old daughter. Neighbours said the 22-year-old had been unable to buy milk for the child or breast-feed her.

Nasreen Bibi, a neighbour, said she had told her she was going out to beg, but instead had jumped in front of the train with her daughter. Both died at the spot. Her husband, M Ramazan, drove a donkey cart but had not worked for three days. He said this was not the first time the family had starved for three days. After autopsies, the bodies were handed over to the family.
