Mahabodhi hosts Buddhist temples and attract a large number of pilgrims, especially from Japan, Thailand and Myanmar.
According to the report, the first blast took place inside the temple complex shortly after 5 am. That initial explosion was followed by seven successive explosions.
Another bomb was also reportedly found near the site and defused.
The bombs were of low intensity and did not damage the temple.
The injured were rushed the hospital.
The temple was largely empty with only a few pilgrims and the cleaning staff present at the time of the blasts.
"We were doing our daily rituals in the temple when we heard a big explosion," an eyewitness said.
The temple premises have been cordoned off. Reports say security has been beefed up in and around other religious sites of the district.

Bodhgaya is a sacred site to Buddhists just like amritsar is to me and mecca for Muslims. It has been targeted needlessly. There was no security issues when I went there and paid homage to the trees and had chai with all the monks there. God is watching, these blasts will lower regards for muslims here and the world. Islamic terrorism want to destroy every religion and there religious places . They think not about the impact of there terrorist activity on the Muslim who live in non Muslim countries .These so-called Muslims defamed there religion and innocent coreligionist also.
The mentality which destroyed the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan are also responsible for this.

I don't understand what the militants get by attacking non-Muslim places of worship in non-Muslim countries. Don't they have a better job to do, like, I don't know, implement Sharia in Muslim majority countries?

these blasts are done by Indian Mujhadin operatives..so first they blasted Hindu temples like Sankat Mochan in varanasi, Akshardham in Gujrat..and now it's the turn of Buddhist temples..
its very simple pakis are responsible for this no doubt.
