For A Good Cause: Baitul Sakoon appeals for donation

KARACHI: The Baitul Sukoon management has appealed civil society members to help generate Rs135 million for the year 2013-14 to help them raise money for cancer patients and arrange beds for a period of one year. Since its inception in 1999, the organisation has treated 9,800 cancer patients, 8,900 have received chemotherapy, while over 2,140 have had radiotherapy and over 1,690 surgeries have been performed. The cost per patient is Rs500,000. The hospital provides surgical, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive management services, such as blood transfusion, analgesic and nutritious support to economically challenged patients, while Ernst and Young audit the accounts of the hospital.
