Violence Roundup: Eight people killed in the city

A police team intercepted two dacoits near Cage Hotel in Qasba Colony and during an encounter.

KARACHI: Eight people, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were killed in Karachi on Saturday. The MQM worker, 28-year-old Kashif Ahmed, was shot dead in Kharadar while another party activist, Siddique, was injured. According to Orangi Town SP Chaudhry Asad, a police team intercepted two dacoits near Cage Hotel in Qasba Colony and during an encounter, one of them was killed while the other sustained bullet wounds. Separately, a 25-year-old woman and her relative were shot dead in Lalabad, Landhi by a man whose marriage proposal the girl had allegedly turned down, said the police. In other incidents, a 50-year-old man was killed near the Lasbellah Bridge, a 20-year-old man was shot dead in Mauripur and a 40-year-old man was killed near the Old Sabzi Mandi. Malik Altaf, 60, was killed during an attempted dacoity in Aram Bagh.
