Violation Of Rules: KWSB MD’s promotion challenged in court

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has issued a notice on a petition challenging the promotion of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s managing director Misbahuddin Farid.

Headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, the bench directed the provincial local government secretary and the incumbent MD to file their comments by July 8.

The petition was filed by the board’s chief engineer, Qutubuddin Sheikh, against Farid’s promotion to grade 20.

Sheikh told the judges that Farid had himself approved his promotion in sheer violation of the service rules and regulations. He further said that Farid convened a departmental meeting in his capacity as the MD in which deliberations over his promotion took place. He asked the court to declare the respondent’s promotion as illegal while declaring him legally entitled to the same.
