MUZAFFARABAD: At least eight people, including four children and a woman, were bitten by rabid dogs on Friday in Makri. The event triggered panic in the suburban locality, with residents being forced to remain indoors as the stray pack kept prowling the area throughout the day. Nevertheless, reports stated that at least one dog was killed by a group of people. Witnesses said a pack of stray dogs entered the area and attacked children who were playing outside their homes. Those who went for the aid of the children also suffered canine bites. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. Locals complained that even though dozens of wild dogs had been seen in the area time and again, authorities had failed to check the menace. “The Muzaffarabad Municipal Corporation has failed to control the problem of rabid dogs in the area,” said residents.
