
About 16 members of a family, including women and children, were rescued from a landlord’s private jail in village Ismail Mahar situated in the limits of Yaroo Lund police station, district Ghotki on Thursday.
According to reports, Mureed Hussain Mazari filed an application in the Sindh high court circuit bench, Sukkur, stating that, 16 members of his family were being illegally detained by landlords, Sobharo Mahar and Adam Mahar. He alleged that the landlords have provided loan to the family on heavy interest rates which they were not able to pay back. The landlords had subsequently detained the family members.
Upon hearing the petition, the honourable court ordered Ghotki police to raid the village and rescue the detainees. The Yaroo Lund SHO raided the village and recovered 16 people, including women and children, from the private jail, however, no arrest was made. Those recovered were Mai Channar, wife of Mohammad Ali Mazari, Hakeeman, daughter of Mohammad Ali Mazari, Ghulam Mohammad, Sughra, wife of Mureed Hussain, Aisha, daughter of Mureed Hussain, Dhiyani, wife of Mukhtiar Mazari, Rukhsana, daughter of Mukhtiar Mazari, Khursheedan, daughter of Mukhtiar Mazari, Shani ,wife of Zulfiqar Mazari, Shakeela, daughter of Mukhtiar Mazari and others. The SSP Ghotki Abdul Salam Shaikh said that all the rescued people will be produced in court on Friday.
