Property fraud: ‘Police are pressing me to not pursue the case’

Irum Bibi said when she submitted a complaint to the police they refused to register a case against her husband.

A woman’s house was illegally taken over and sold allegedly by her husband in Bahawalpur.


Irum Bibi, a resident of Jamaluddin Wali, told the media on Tuesday that she was married to Liaquat Hussain some months ago. She said Hussain and his accomplices including Patwari Asghar Nadeem, Maqsood Gilani, Ameer, Hanif, Anwar had illegally sold her Rs3.5 million house.

She said when she found out that her house had been sold Hussain mixed sleeping pills in her food and took away jewellery and other valuables worth millions of rupees.

Irum Bibi said when she submitted a complaint to the police they refused to register a case against her husband. She said she then filed a suit in a court. She said the police were pressing her to not pursue the case.

Bhong SHO Mahar Nasir said the police were investigating the matter. He said an FIR would be registered.

Meanwhile, anti-corruption circle officer Khalid Mehmood Wattoo has asked SHO Mahar Nasir and Patwari Asghar Nadeem to show him record of Irum Bibi’s property. Otherwise, strict action would be taken against them.
