Mehsud was killed in the US drone strike in North Waziristan tribal region, along with six other militants, on May29.
A day after the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) confirmed Mehsud’s death, its spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan, announced that TTP will take revenge, claiming that the Pakistani authorities were sharing information with the US to facilitate drone strikes.
Ehsan also withdrew TTP's offer to hold dialogues with the new government.
The TTP spokesperson, claiming responsibility for the earlier attack on a check post that killed six security men, said the attack was part of their plan to take revenge.
“The Taliban take responsibility for the attack on the check post of the Frontier Constabulary of Urmar Police on the border of Frontier Region Peshawar last night,” the TTP spokesman told The Express Tribune via phone.
He also claimed injuring ten more FC personnel but avoided comments on reports that several security men are missing.
“We will keep on targeting the security forces during the revenge attacks,” he said.
“The political government has yet to demonstrate its power and to take bold and independent decisions,” the TTP spokesperson said.
Ehsan claimed that the new government has no power to take decisions which could end the bloodshed.
“How can we talk to the government if it does not exercise powers and the security establishment is still powerful and takes decision,” he alleged.
Ehsan said the Taliban will respond positively when it feels that the government has real powers and takes serious steps towards the peace process.
“We have not only learnt militancy but we also know politics and how to sit on the negotiation table,” he said.
He further said that none of the Taliban men were killed in a drone attack at Dandi Darpakhel which claimed 17 lives on Wednesday.

TTP is doing to Pakistanis what Afghan Taliban are doing to Afghans.
The strange thing is Pakistanis support Afghan Taliban, but detest the TTP.
Pakistanis don't realize that TTP was created because of their support to the Afghan Taliban, in the first place. Yet, there's no change of strategies after so many years of bloodshed.

Should we be surprised by the TTP statements? I guess not! If there is still a person in Pakistan who has an iota of doubt that the TTP are in anyway; their friend, then they should be in for a rude awakening. They are only the enemy of Pakistan. They kill without remorse and are proud of their evil acts. Pakistani security forces are fighting these enemies, but the sneak attacks in the middle of night like cowards may hurt them a little, but they do not damper their resolve to defeat these greatest enemies of their nation. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Pakistani brethrens in their fight to secure peace for their people from these vicious terrorists. And there is no doubt in our minds that they will be defeated and peace will prevail.

TTP like the rest of the World knows the Military doesn't report to the Civilian govt - seems like the only people in the World that believe the Civilian govt control military/foreign policy are Pakistani's.

And because we or anyone cannot confirm who were killed, we can't say they were terrorists. Its a shame that we can't even confirm a news on our own territory. I take pride in our military and despite being giving billions of dollars to military, they don't have proper system to defend us (Remember Abbotabad operation).

by killing each soldier and civilians they are creating enough people that will ultimately force the sleeping govt to kill off those animals i hope the people rise before that happens and ask the govt to do a decisive operation with full might instead of half hearted status quo operations
TTP has to understand that pakistan isnt afghanistan or anyother country where the govt will collapse because of their operations or killing, they cant make people fear from joining army or police by killing off our people. they have killed over 50,000 and havnt even nearly acheived their goal and it doesnt seem that they can acheive it.

Just because they were not TTP men, does not mean they were innocent civilians. Most likely they were Haqqanis.

Nawaz Sharif must act and act now to depoliticise Pakistan miltary before it is too late, his Government cannot and must not be held responsible for the contridictory characteristics of the army which was fomulated by the defunct Musharaf, who gave protection to Sheilh Osama in the miltary garrison town, while handing over innocent residents to CIA, as terrorists. It is Pakistan military top brass which is actively in control of the country's political and security situations as well as the country's foreign policy towards the USA an other Nations. The American leadership though aware more or less of the reality on ground, is still being mislead by the Pakistan army and targetting of those who think differently is being pursued.

Sadly, NATO has been singing this tune for past decade, however Pak Army have different ideas and they simply decided to play their own games with NATO. After all, who is going to save their strategic assets ? Beware of these assets, they have become ambitious and are no longer interested in towing the line, but are looking to take over the Country ! So much for Pak Foreign Policy ! The time has really come, when Pakistan will have to decide as to these assets and what to do with them, as the Army is simply not capable of taking on such guerrilla/urban warfare with these outfits, as the daily carnage shows.

And this militancy is controllable only if nation is united, not just the military. But this nation pours praise on people like Mumtaz Qadri. IK's ministers openly say "its a blast only. Konsi qayamat aa gae hay" and get away with it. So these things show how divided we are. I don't understand how there's no urgency at all to stop militant attacks! Neither the army, nor politicians seem to be calling an all parties conference to make some joint plan, mold public opinion and start an all out war against these insurgents which leads one to believe that they all know about it and letting it happen for whatever reason. Now what could that reason be? Are we on a trajectory of the ill-fated Yugoslavia?
Makes sense. New govt in power yet the drones continue. The military operations continue. There is no sense or urgency about coming up with a plan to combat the situation. NS is more interested in going china. Without security there will be economic growth, no matter how many foreign tours are taken.
