The attack began around midnight and continued for three and a half hour. The militants surrounded the check post and used heavy weapons during the assault.
A large number of police and Frontier Constabulary personnel were dispatched to the area as reinforcement, however the militants had fled by then.
The attackers had occupied the check post and escaped after setting it on fire. Six bodies of the FC men were found inside the post, two of which were completely burnt.
Police feared that the rest of the police and FC men had been taken away but later seven of them were found injured while others were also found in nearby bushes unhurt. They were able to get out of the post before the militants overran it.
“They were short of arms and ammunition as it was the first attack of its kind on a check post in the area,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity, adding that the heads of the two dead bodies were also missing.
He said that a policeman, three Khasadar and three FC men were among the injured who were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

The Taliban, LEJ, LET kill innocent people, FC, Army, Police regularly, while our security forces never encounter them but only arrest them so as to enable them to get bail from courts and continue their activities with more vigour. We are having an inefficient Army Chief who make cheap comments while visiting China and Srilanka focusing on India. Instead of wasting the national budget on these dubious security forces, we can as well outsource them either to China or Western countries with half of the cost.
@Shaami: Shami sahib, they need at least half an hour to get out of the STRATEGIC DEPTH and you are asking them with in 5/10 min :-)
We send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of these brave soldiers who died for their country. We sincerely hope that their families will find the strength to deal with this misfortune. We also wish a quick and speedy recovery to those who are injured. The terrorists have been unsuccessful in breaking our shared will and desire to restore peace in the region. We share a common goal in regards to the betterment of the region. We’ve lost too many soldiers on both sides of the border in countering insurgency. We will not let our sacrifices go to waste and stop pursuing our peace objectives in the region. We will continue to cooperate and coordinate against those who pose a threat to the safety of the region. We stand by the government of Pakistan and wish for a safe and secure region.

@khalsa:
Don't criticise Taliban, it would upset both Takht-e-Lahore parties PTI and PMLN. Never mind if Pakhtoons are being killed.
Semiautonomous Taliban regions and Pakistan sovereignty cannot coexist. Either the country reigns in on its militants, or affected outsiders will continue to do so. But, with the Taliban weakened Pakistan can bring central government to more of its lands. Otherwise, the semiautonomous regions will overrun neighboring towns -- one after another. Has Pakistan forgotten that the Taliban did just that three years ago? Or that that they have been doing no different in Afghanistan for decades? The Taliban is the hydra of both countries and both countries need all the technology and help they can get.
@ali ever heard of the word sarcasm?
two heads missing. very barbaric of taliban
@Obaid: What efforts? Do u see any efforts? The have completely distnced themselves from what the terrorists r doing to the innocent people of pakistan, as drones and amrika-ki-jang r responsible. The only effort which Perez khattak made was when he got electoral victory he did a pathetic press conference in which he made a humble request to TTP that we have no enmity with u, we request u not to attack us, we r ready to give u any respect that u want. So parvez khattak, his cabinet is safe, they roam in bullet proof vehicles, and they damn care about the ordinary pukhtuns.
No negotiation with these barbarians although i hate pakistan army and security forces as well but killing people in night is a true act of cowardness learn from america they drone us from front......and be a real man
Congratulations to Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif, our new Pre-Paid Prime Minister, and Post Paid Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the continuous and brave performance of their coordinators and mentors from Karachi to Khyber.
We should negotiate the return of the two heads which the honorable Taliban took with them. In order to show our sincerity to negotiate we should disarm the police and the FC. Or better still withdraw them from the posts. Seeing this voluntary submission the Taliban may show some mercy and spare us.
Has our incompetent interior minister woken up from his slumber to announce the much trumpeted security policy. Or it was just a smoke screen?
IK we are anxiously waiting for initiation of dialogue with these people, please hurry up.
Shame on our Air Force that even after 3 Hours of Attack our Airforce was sleeping and no Air Support came to help the besieged FC members .!!. In International forces the usual response time of Air Support is around 5/10 Minutes but in Pakistan Our Ground forces are always left at the mercy of Millitants as Pakistan Armed forces have no Command and Control to utilize and warn the Air Defense and Air Support in case of Attack. It is my request to Armed forces to be a Professional in Command, Control and Response just like many of the officers are experts in DHA plots sale and purchase.
its okay they came to negotiate with PTI govt
Wishing government the very best in its peace efforts
